This is a Norman Rockwell piece, I have decided to hijack it adding some chains and a ball and chain, changing the meaning of the piece to its complete opposite. An image that used to depict a moment where a black girl is being escorted to be able to go to school, is now being escorted with chains, giving several interpretations possible. One could be that she is being escorted out of school because she "doesnt belong" in that white school. Another one could be that she does not deserve education, period, just because of her skin color. Other interpratations can be done, all refering to racial issues..

For this assignment I chose to use Edward Hopper's paintings and hijacked them by using part of a piece by Norman Rockwell. The issue to which I am refering by making this hijack is child abuse. In all three images there even is a sense that the child being molested doesnt know that what is going on is completely wrong. If I were to put these images in public places I think I would place them in a magazine, so that kids won't see this on the street and misinterpret it as something normal. I would also add some sort of slogan promoting to teach children that this is not ok.
